any ideas on a good, quality but cheap holiday resorts in europe for a young couple?
I’m looking for a good holiday to go on with my boyfriend anywhere in or around europe. We’re young so we’d be looking for somewhere quality but affordable, where theres loads of good bars and nightclubs and where the drinks and smokes…..ect. are cheap. Any recommendations would be brilliant!!!
I would suggest Sunny Beach in Bulgaria.
1. It is in the EU, so assuming you are in the EU too, you wont need any VISA.
2. It is cheap, very cheap. 500ml of local beer cost 1 Leva (thats about £0.30, or 0.50€) and as there are lots and lots of bars competing for your business, most offer buy one get one free. You can get a decent meal (local food) for about 15Leva per head (about £7) including drinks, and surprisingly enough McDonalds and fast food joints are not much cheaper. Try Kavarma, its delicious!
Theres a main strip in the centre of town, with bars, clubs, go go dancers (boys and girls) casinos, restaurants, street sellers…… etc etc, comes alive at night.
3. It has a 9km sandy beach, with crystal blue water. It can get a bit windy sometimes but in Summer the weather is a scorching late 30’s early 40’s. Plenty of watersports, beachside cafes, and at one end theres a nudist beach too!
4. You can privately rent an apartment from about £150 a week (you will pay more obviously if you go in high season) – check out ownersdirect.com, and from London, wizzair.com (its like ryanair) fly to Burgas which is about 30 minutes away in cab, and BulgariaAir and British Airways fly to Varna about 1hr20 away. Most holiday package firms go to Sunny Beach, so you may get flights from Thomson or Tui.
5. There is no smoking ban in Bulgaria.
6. You can hire a car, or go on an organised tour to the mountains, to plovdiv and other bulgarian towns, or even Istanbul in Turkey.
I have an apartment there so go there every year myself. If there is anything else you need to know you can ask me on darrenashford2007@yahoo.co.uk
Go to Sharm El Sheikh.
(Not Europe I know but nearly!)
Cheap smokes, drinks…can smoke inside! (Love that!) Bloody hot, around 50 degrees. You;ll get reaaally tanned. Loads to do and see too. Snorkelling/Scuba, go visit the pyramids in Cairo…ride a camel in the desert or just sit by the pool all day. I went last year in August for 2 weeks all inclusive for just under 600. Go on otbeach.com and find a bargain OR teletext hols.
Oh, and they have good beach raves there!

Try Turkey – there are plenty of decent resorts along the Aegean coast – eg Marmaris where hotels/villas/apartments are cheap. Food and beer is also inexpensive and the Turkish Lira is weak against the Sterling so your money will go a bit further.
