How have global politics changed since the fall of the Soviet Union and communism in Eastern Europe.?

How have global politics changed since the fall of the Soviet Union and communism in Eastern Europe.
I dont understand the question nor do i know any specific examples, can someone help please?

After the Cold War ended and Russia fell, America became the biggest remaining super-power. Instead of focusing our attention on Russia, we started looking for other things to spend our Defense budget on (i.e. terrorists).

World political power shifted strongly to non-communist nations and the European Union formed.

America becamse the UN’s "brute squad" to help enforce democracy in the world. It worked a little too well because now President Bush believes that America can act independantly and even against the UN’s wishes by invading Iraq.
