Is the percentage of Neo-Nazism and racism large in Russia and Eastern Europe?

I’m primarily looking for an answer to Russia, but I’m also curious about Eastern Europe as well.

The hostility to mass immigration that exists isn’t an issue of Nazism or Racism, but people simply wanting to survive. Life can be very hard, and if you don’t work you don’t eat.

The percentage of Neo-Nazis is not larger than other European countries. The Western media often sensationalizes incidents in Russia, while failing to mention that Neo-Nazis attempt to march through Central European cities such as Leipzig and Prague every year.

It seems like most of the answers here were just to insult Islam and the answer by Artem is pure racist, which Russia does have a problem with. I’m not backing up Islam, but they do cause much trouble. But the thing is, Islam is the second largest Religion in Russia after Christianity and they actually live there somewhat fine, except in Moscow and cities where many of the Neo Nazis are.

There is Racism everywhere, obviously, but Russia does have many problems with it. The Neo Nazi “Nationalist” groups are a growing problem in Russia. What makes these groups funny, besides the idiocy that comes with racism, is one many of these groups take pride in their “Russian” blood and heritage and wave around Swastikas. Did they forget that not only did the Nazis look at them as inferior, but they also killed many of them? Second, many of these same people they are attacking, not the Africans and the Asians seeing how they are newly arrived immigrants, but all the ex USSR citizens such as the Uzbeks, Armenian, and Azerbaijani people, their parents and grandparents, maybe even themselves, once called Comrade during the USSR days.

Are Muslims a race, though you did not ask this I’m just going to answer this because the other people brought it up, no. Muslims are not a Race, they are a religious group and nobody has said otherwise. Even Muslims don’t consider themselves a race.

So yes Neo Nazism and Racism is large in Russia and in many ways dangerous, but there are many good hearted people as well.

  6. What you read or watch in the Western mass media about “Russian Nazism” is huge simplification and direct distortion of what is going on in Russia. If saying “neo-Nazism” you mean individuals who adore Hitler and his national policy then the number of those individuals is EXTREMELY low. All these groups of psychos inclined to commit acts of violence are well-known for the Russian police. However, the Russian police are quite reluctant to crush them. Why? Because the authorities need these a few groups which commit high-profile crimes to discredit growing dissatisfaction of the Russian population with its economic and political rights. Due to their clannish and kinship systems some non-Russian peoples of the Russian Federation (from the Caucasus region) and the former USSR (from the Caucasus region again) are organised in mafia-like networks and granted with some substantial business and even political advantages by the bribed police and authorities. THIS is the basis for steadily growing discontent of the Russian population. Can you call it neo-Nazism?
