Where would anyone recommend to go on holidays in october in europe?
My wife and I are in our early thirties and planning a 10 day break in october in europe. Not necessarily sun worshippers. Any Recommendations would be appreciated
Mallorca, Majorca or Malta for the sun. Athens, Istanbul, Nicosia or Barcelona for a nice autumn visit.
Italy is very nice! I go every year

October is usually a great time to be here in Italy. There are a lot of festivals around the country and relatively few tourists. It can be foggy here in northern Italy, but that generally just adds atmosphere to places like Venice – you can get some great photos in the early morning in Piazza San Marco. The fog can be a problem if you’re driving, but if you’re using the train system, there’s no problem.
Some of the events during the month:
Eurochocolate in Perugia – this is an excellent event and a great opportunity to visit Perugia and Asissi
Verdi Festival – Parma
Alba Truffle Festival – this is a big deal with internationally known chefs at the market
Salone del Gusto (Food) – Turin
Isola della Scala Rice Festival – just south of Verona
Abbadia San Salvatore Autumn Festival
Palio del Papero (Duck Races) in San Miniato near Pisa
Bardolino Wine Festival – Garda Lake
San Giovanni Ilarione chestnut festival
Bologna Festival
The Italian Job charity rally – http://www.wordserf.co.uk/italianjob/ (rent the movie if you haven’t seen it)
and numerous other food, cultural, and music related events in addition to all the tourist attractions.
