What is the best travel route around Europe?
I am planning to go to Europe in May next year and want to know the best way around to visit as many countries as possible. Planning to spend atleast 3 months there… Anyone who has travelled around Europe before, can you tell me how you went about it and also how long you spent in each country, and anything you would change. Thanks for your help!
i lived in Europe of 3 yrs. the best advice i can give is spend at least 4-5 days in a city (large or small). I hate it when Americans were always trying to cram in as many places as possible. there is so much to see and you have plenty of time, so why rush. Also, keep in mind that the smaller cities have just as much to offer as the larger one, sometimes more. also, since you are going in may, i would start south and work my way north, since it gets so freakin hot in italy in the summer and there are no A/C’s. unless u like hot, humid weather. my fave city is Prag…its a must see!

he best way is always renting a car ( for flexibility) but if this is not in your budget there is only one way to go and that is the Euro-rail pass. Every city in Europe has a train station and if I’m not wrong the euro rail-pass includes underground, some buses and subway as well (but please double check). Have a blast and drink a cold beer and have a sausage for me in germany

I have started from London, taken the Channel tunnel from Dover, gone over to France and then to Paris, from Paris taken the motorway to Spain and then to Portugal from Portugal and then Spain along the French Riviera to Monaco and on to Italy – motorway to Rome – up the cost to Milan and across to Venice then to Switzerland and then Austria, then to Germany, Holland and then through Belgium to Channel tunnel and back to London. You could take up to three months – you could also visit various East European Countries if you wanted and also Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Happy traveling.

Wow what a great question and I’ve got a few pointers for you.
A) Fly into London, it’s the least expensive airport to land in.
B) Get a EurRail Pass, cheapest way to travel is by train and they have these great package deals.
C) Take the EuroStar to Paris or Brussels. It’s a SUPER FAST train that goes through the Chunnel Tube direct to those cities.
D) If you go Brussels then go to Cologne next or Amsterdam. Cologne is my favorite because I lived there for 5 years. Amsterdam is next because there is a LOT to see and do. DO NOT be afraid to visit a coffee shop to smoke a joint and be sure to check out the famous red-light district. You’ll either love it or hate it but it will definatley change the way you think about our culture.
E) Paris was your choice, excellent selection although I think the French are a bit boorish and rude, especially to Americans (That whole Freedom Fries thing was just retarded)
F) Then depending on where you are on the map go to Germany or Italy.
G) Look into staying in Hostels, cheapest way to find a room for the night, be prepared to helpout because it is a commune type atmosphere (dishes, cooking etc.). You also meet some really cool people from around the world who may become traveling companions.
H) Security, be safe, try to take a partner!!! TRAVEL LIGHT!!! Wash clothes often, get a decent digital camera and upload pix regularly (If its stolen no great loss). Try to learn the languages before you arrive so you have a rudimentary knowledge (asking for bathrooms etc.)
ABOVE ALL!! Have a great time, I’m taking my family to Germany and Italy for a month in October to see relatives so maybe I’ll post something on my 360.
